Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri received the Director of the UNESCO Regional Office and UNESCO Representative in Lebanon and Syria Paolo Fontani, and discussed with Egyptian Ambassador Alaa Moussa the latest political and field developments.

Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri received the Director of the UNESCO Regional Office and UNESCO Representative in Lebanon and Syria Paolo Fontani, in the presence of the Director of Relations, Program Officer, and Head of the Communication and Information Sector at the UNESCO Regional Office for Education in the Arab States, George Awad.
The meeting included a review of the course of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon and its repercussions at various levels, especially the targeting that has affected and continues to affect archaeological, heritage, cultural, religious, educational, and civilian sites in various southern villages, towns, and cities, particularly in Shama, Yaroun, Bint Jbeil, and the city of Nabatieh, whose commercial and historical market was targeted.
Berri stressed "the necessity for all international organizations, especially UNESCO, to assume their role regarding these crimes."
For his part, Fontani confirmed that "UNESCO is about to hold a conference next June, and Lebanon and these topics will be on the conference agenda, which will also address the reconstruction of those sites," praising "the efforts of the Parliament and its cooperation with UNESCO in legislative fields, especially the modernization of the media law."
Berri also received Egyptian Ambassador Alaa Moussa, where developments in the situation in Lebanon and the region were discussed, as well as the latest political and field developments due to Israel's continued aggression and violation of the ceasefire decision, in addition to bilateral relations between the two countries.
