The American Embassy in Beirut: Aoun and Netanyahu meeting grants Lebanon tangible guarantees for full sovereignty

The American Embassy in Beirut published a statement on its account on the "X" platform, which stated:

“Lebanon stands at a crossroads. Its people have a historic opportunity to reclaim their country and shape its future as a state with true sovereignty and independence.

Direct engagement between Lebanon and Israel, two neighboring countries that should not have been at war, can constitute the beginning of a national renaissance. The continuation of the cessation of hostilities, achieved at the personal request of President Trump, has allowed Lebanon the space and opportunity to put all its legitimate demands on the table with full attention from the United States government.

Holding a direct meeting between President Aoun and Prime Minister Netanyahu, mediated by President Trump, would grant Lebanon the opportunity to obtain tangible guarantees regarding full sovereignty, territorial integrity, border security, humanitarian support and reconstruction, and the re-establishment of the Lebanese state's authority over its entire territory — guaranteed by the United States.

This is Lebanon's moment to decide its own destiny, a destiny that belongs to all its children. The United States is ready to stand by Lebanon as it seizes this opportunity with confidence and wisdom. The time for hesitation is over.”
