CANIKMAN: Turkey's first humanoid robot joins council meeting

A humanoid robot has officially taken part in a municipal council meeting in Turkey, becoming the country's first population-registered robot of its kind. The robot, named CANIKMAN, attended the May opening session of the Canik Municipal Council in the city of Samsun on Tuesday, May 5, where it answered questions from council members.

According to Canik Municipality Mayor İbrahim Sandıkçı, the humanoid followed the council's discussions, interacted with participants, and responded to their inquiries during the session. Sandıkçı shared his excitement about the robot's appearance at the event in a post on X, stating, “We successfully held the Canik Municipal Council’s May Opening Meeting with the participation of our esteemed council members, in an atmosphere of unity and togetherness.”
