Italian UNIFIL troops delivered over two tons of medicine and supplies to Lebanese communities hit hardest by the crisis.

More than two tons of medicines, medical supplies, and clothing have been handed over to communities severely affected by the crisis in Lebanon. The delivery was carried out by members of the Italian contingent serving with the UNIFIL force, working through the Apostolic Vicariate of Latin Rite in Lebanon, represented by Father Carlo Giorgi.
The initiative, valued at several million euros, is the result of collaboration between the Italian government, the Minister of Defense, the General Staff led by General Luciano Portolano, and the Joint Operations Command (COVI), coordinated with religious institutions and humanitarian actors on the ground. It aims to meet the health and relief needs of families forced to flee their homes in southern Lebanon, providing them with concrete and immediate support.
Major General Diodato Abagnara, Head of Mission and Force Commander of UNIFIL, stated: "In these difficult humanitarian circumstances, standing by the population means making a real contribution to stability, preserving dignity, and instilling hope in entire communities. The Italian contingent members work daily with a spirit of service, solidarity, and responsibility alongside the Lebanese people."

Father Carlo Giorgi, speaking on behalf of the Apostolic Vicariate of Latin Rite, headed by Bishop Cesar Essayan, and involved in distributing the aid, emphasized the humanitarian value of the initiative: "This aid represents much more than just material support. For many families, it means closeness, dignity, and hope in these difficult circumstances. Cooperation with the Italian UNIFIL battalion allows us to provide immediate and tangible assistance to people who have lost almost everything."
Through these activities, the Italian contingent reinforces its role as a trusted and accessible entity for the population, alongside their operational duties. This ongoing humanitarian commitment to supporting Lebanon's most vulnerable communities has been recognized and praised by Lebanese government authorities on several occasions.
