Karaki Announces Increase in Family Compensation for Workers
The National Social Security Fund's General Directorate of Public Relations announced a new increase in family compensation under Decree No. 2923, raising the maximum monthly benefit to 7,875,000 L.L., effective May 1, 2026.

The General Directorate of Public Relations at the National Social Security Fund stated in a communiqué that "about a year ago, within the framework of the corrective and developmental approach adopted by the Fund's General Director Dr. Mohammad Karaki since the onset of crises in 2019 to reactivate the role and impact of health and social policies and benefits, the Fund's administration doubled the monthly value of family compensation under Information Memorandum No. 793 dated 20/6/2025."
It said: "Today, in light of the difficult circumstances the country is going through, especially the repercussions of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon and the additional pressures it imposed on Lebanese families, this file returns to the forefront again with a new increase reflecting a clear direction by the Social Security administration to keep pace with the economic and social needs of society."
It added: "In this context, after a delay of several months, Decree No. 2923 dated 24/4/2026 was issued, which the General Director had prepared and submitted to the Board of Directors on 10/12/2025, and published in the Official Gazette – Issue No. 19 dated 30/4/2026."
It explained that "based on this decree, the Fund's General Director Dr. Mohammad Karaki issued an Information Memorandum dated 4/5/2026, bearing number 831, stipulating the amendment of the maximum earnings subject to deductions for the family and educational benefits branch at the National Social Security Fund, and amending the value of family benefits and the method of distribution between the husband, wife, and children."
It continued: "According to the issued memorandum, the maximum earnings subject to deductions was raised to 28 million L.L. monthly, instead of 18 million L.L. The monthly value of family benefits was also amended to become a maximum amount of 7 million and 875 thousand L.L., distributed as follows:
• 2 million and 100 thousand L.L. for the partner (husband or wife), after it was 1 million and 200 thousand L.L.
• 1 million and 155 thousand L.L. for each child, up to a maximum of 5 children, after it was 660 thousand L.L.
As for public drivers who drive their own cars, the monthly value of family benefits becomes 4 million and 550 thousand L.L. as a maximum, distributed as follows:
• 1 million and 750 thousand L.L. for the partner (husband or wife), after it was 1 million L.L.
• 560 thousand L.L. for each child within the specified ceilings, after it was 320 thousand L.L.
As for the subscriptions of non-owner public drivers and newspaper and magazine vendors for the family benefits branch, they have become:
• 1 million and 680 thousand L.L. monthly after it was 1 million and 80 thousand L.L.
• 56 thousand L.L. daily after it was 36 thousand L.L.
These amendments take effect as of 1/5/2026, in a step that falls within a broader plan to modernize the social security system and enhance its social role, by increasing cash benefits for Lebanese families."
It concluded: "Dr. Karaki affirms that adapting to the difficult reality is no longer an option, but a continuous necessity, and he is proceeding to take all necessary measures and procedures to alleviate the burden of crises on workers and employees. The General Director also extends his thanks to everyone who contributed to achieving this great accomplishment, especially the Minister of Labor Dr. Mohammad Haidar and the Minister of Finance Mr. Yassin Jaber."
