Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros al-Rahi stated that the current verbal warfare on social media is a "worrying decline in the scale of values and language and a violation of dignities," adding that Lebanon is greater than transient squabbles.

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros al-Rahi affirmed that "the people are waiting amidst daily anxiety as they try to cling to what remains of hope, and we are experiencing divisions, tensions, and excessive sensitivity," considering in the homily of the Mass he presided over at Our Lady of Lebanon Basilica in Harissa that "what is happening today on social media in terms of verbal warfare is not freedom of opinion, but rather a worrying decline in the scale of values and language and a violation of dignities, which no one has the right to infringe upon, and Lebanon is greater than transient squabbles."
