A 27-year-old woman in São Paulo, Brazil, was arrested for stabbing a hairstylist after she was unhappy with her hair coloring and treatment.
Police in Brazil have arrested a 27-year-old woman, Laís Gabriela Barbosa da Cunha, for allegedly stabbing a hairstylist inside a salon in São Paulo. The attack, captured on surveillance cameras, occurred after she became enraged with the results of her hair coloring and treatment.
Footage shows da Cunha approaching stylist Eduardo Ferrari as he worked on another client. She then pulled a knife from her bag and stabbed him between the shoulder blades from behind. Salon staff quickly subdued her, while Ferrari fled toward the exit in panic. Other footage shows security personnel restraining the woman, as some salon workers approached and assaulted her.
According to salon staff, the conflict began when da Cunha visited the salon on April 7. At the time, she appeared satisfied with the outcome, even posting positive comments on social media. However, days later, she returned demanding a refund, claiming the haircut made her look like a Brazilian cartoon character known as "Cebolinha." In a video, she stated that the stylist "cut her hair randomly using thinning scissors."
Reports indicate that da Cunha had previously threatened to burn the stylist if she did not get her money back, and allegedly threatened to hire someone to kill him. On the day of the incident, she arrived at the salon without an appointment and demanded an immediate resolution. Staff called a building guard to remove her for causing a disturbance, moments before she carried out the stabbing. A staff member later managed to wrestle the knife away from her. Medical examination showed Ferrari's injury was superficial.
Police reported that da Cunha confessed to the attack and admitted to directing homophobic insults at the stylist before the incident. In a statement, Ferrari said his legal team is closely monitoring the case, emphasizing that "attempted murder is a very serious crime and cannot be treated as a minor incident." He added that the salon will review its security procedures to ensure the safety of its employees.
