EU Extends Google's Deadline to Address Competition Concerns
EU regulators have given Google more time to resolve competition investigation issues after deeming its previous proposals insufficient.

European Union regulators have granted Google additional time to address ongoing competition concerns, following a determination that the company's earlier proposals fell short of requirements. The European Commission announced the extension on Tuesday, signaling continued negotiations between the tech giant and Brussels.
Google remains in talks with the Commission to defend its position and craft solutions that tackle issues raised during the investigation and preliminary findings, according to Commission spokesperson Thomas Regnier. The solutions presented so far lack sufficient strength, Regnier stated, prompting the decision to allow more time for discussions aimed at reaching a settlement that serves the interests of both European businesses and citizens.
Regulatory Framework and Potential Penalties
The European Commission, responsible for enforcing competition law across the bloc, has accused Google of violating the Digital Markets Act—legislation designed to curb the dominance of major technology companies in the European market. The Commission is currently finalizing its decision on the case, which could include imposing a financial penalty on Google.
