MoonPay introduced a service enabling users to initiate cryptocurrency purchases via ChatGPT, redirecting them to its platform to complete transactions.

The announcement of cryptocurrency purchase services accessible through ChatGPT sparked widespread reactions across social media platforms. Reports and posts promoted the possibility of buying cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin directly within the chatbot, a development some interpreted as a sign of rapid integration between artificial intelligence technologies and financial services.
This buzz emerged following MoonPay's launch of a service inside ChatGPT's app store, allowing users to request cryptocurrency purchases during conversations with the chatbot.
Shortly after, numerous posts circulated suggesting that Bitcoin could be purchased simply by entering a text command within the application.
However, the service details clarify that the actual purchase does not occur inside ChatGPT. Instead, the chatbot's role is limited to generating a purchase link that redirects users to MoonPay's external website to complete the necessary procedures.
According to the official service description, all payment processing, identity verification, and regulatory compliance are handled exclusively on MoonPay's platform. ChatGPT does not function as a trading platform, financial intermediary, digital wallet, or payment processor.
This means that when a user requests to buy cryptocurrencies via ChatGPT, they ultimately receive a link directing them to MoonPay’s platform. There, the user undergoes identity verification, connects digital wallets, and completes payment transactions in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
Observers consider this development more of a marketing success than a deep technical integration between artificial intelligence and digital asset services. The company leveraged the association of its service with ChatGPT to generate significant interest among cryptocurrency enthusiasts.
Although the service offers a new access point to digital asset purchase platforms, it does not yet enable full transaction execution within the ChatGPT interface itself. This aspect contradicted the initial impression formed by many users following the news about the launch.
