Daily Beirut is an independent news organization headquartered in Beirut. Our mission is to provide accurate, fair, and timely coverage of Lebanon, the Arab world, and international affairs to readers around the world, in their own language. This page sets out the principles that govern our journalism.
Independence
Daily Beirut accepts no funding from political parties, candidates, governments, or campaigns. Our coverage decisions are made independently of advertisers and commercial partners. No advertiser receives advance notice of coverage that mentions them, favorable or otherwise.
Accuracy
We verify facts before we publish. Where information cannot be independently confirmed, we say so and attribute it. We name our sources whenever possible. When we use anonymous sources, we tell readers why and describe the source’s position as precisely as confidentiality allows.
Fairness and Right of Reply
We seek out and represent the perspective of every party meaningfully affected by a story. When a story makes serious allegations against an individual or organization, we contact them in advance and offer a meaningful opportunity to respond. Their response is included in the published story.
News, Analysis, Opinion, Sponsored Content
We clearly distinguish between reporting, analysis, opinion, and sponsored or partner content. Opinion pieces are labeled. Sponsored content is labeled “Sponsored” and carries no editorial endorsement.
Updates and Revisions
We update stories as they develop. Material factual corrections are noted with a dated corrections box at the foot of the article. See our corrections policy.
Coverage Areas
Lebanon’s politics, economy, and society; the wider Arab world; international affairs that affect our readers; and selected coverage of sport, technology and science, culture, lifestyle, and consumer business.
