SpaceXAI and Cursor to Launch New AI Model Challenging ChatGPT and Claude
SpaceXAI and Cursor plan to release a joint AI model aiming to compete with leading AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude.

SpaceXAI and Cursor are preparing to introduce their first collaborative artificial intelligence model, linking advanced programming tools with Elon Musk’s expanding AI ventures. This initiative aims to present a competitor in the software assistant market by combining powerful AI models with access to a larger computing infrastructure.
According to a Reuters report citing The Information, SpaceXAI and Cursor intend to launch the new AI model soon, following a prior delay to enhance its efficiency. Reuters noted that the model is expected to process information rapidly and compete in certain aspects with advanced AI systems from Anthropic and OpenAI. Reuters did not independently verify the report, while Cursor declined to comment and SpaceXAI did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Reuters also reported that SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk, announced in June the acquisition of Anysphere—the developer of the Cursor tool—in an all-stock deal valued at $60 billion. This move is designed to strengthen SpaceX’s position in the enterprise AI tools market. Cursor faces strong competition from Anthropic and OpenAI but has struggled with limited computing capacity. Integration into SpaceXAI could provide Cursor with greater scalability, especially as AI-driven code-writing tools have become among the most lucrative segments within corporate AI applications.
