4 Million Barrels of Oil to Save the Day: Decisive US Move After Hurricane!
The US Department of Energy authorized an emergency exchange of up to 4 million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to address supply disruptions caused by Hurricane Isaias.

The US Department of Energy announced that it has authorized an emergency exchange of up to 4 million barrels of crude oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to address supply disruptions caused by Hurricane Isaias.
US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright said in a statement, "The Department of Energy is moving quickly through this emergency exchange to help maintain refinery operations, limit fuel supply disruptions, and ensure that American families and businesses continue to have access to affordable, reliable, and secure energy."
Oil markets reacted last week to several developments, most notably allowing Russian diesel into certain markets, along with tensions in the Middle East and the Strait of Hormuz.
Brent crude recorded gains of 2.4% last week, closing above $104.42 per barrel, while US light crude gained 0.80% to reach $91.66.
Oil prices experienced noticeable volatility during last week's trading as threats targeting oil shipments in the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz increased; these routes previously carried shipments equivalent to approximately 20% of global total oil and fuel before the outbreak of war.
The war in the Middle East and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine disrupted supplies of refined fuels such as gasoline, jet fuel, and diesel in particular.
