Volkswagen announced on Monday that its global vehicle deliveries declined sharply during the third quarter of this year. The company, headquartered in Wolfsburg, reported handing over approximately 1.89 million cars across all its brands to customers worldwide between July and September. This figure represents a 14.3 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.

Regional performance disparities

The most significant contraction occurred in China, where Volkswagen recorded its largest sales drop. Deliveries in the Chinese market fell by 38.5 percent during the reporting window. This regional shortfall contributed heavily to the overall global decline observed in the quarterly figures.

Nine-month cumulative results

For the nine-month period spanning January through September, Volkswagen sold slightly more than six million vehicles globally. This total marks a 9 percent reduction from the corresponding timeframe in the previous year. In absolute terms, the company delivered roughly 600,000 fewer units than it did during the same months last year.
