Results from an investigation conducted by a German research center indicate that 46 women and 4 men among members of the European Parliament fell victim to sexually explicit deepfake operations created with artificial intelligence.

The report by the German research center Agora Digitale Transformation states: "Our new analysis shows that 50 members of the European Parliament, 46 women and 4 men, appeared in or were associated with pornographic material created using deepfake technology, equivalent to approximately one in six female MEPs."

Researchers noted that the issue affected all major political groups in the European Parliament, representing its entire political spectrum.

In May, the Spanish government announced that the European Union had approved a proposal it submitted to ban the use of AI systems to create sexually explicit deepfakes without the person's consent.

Spain proposed this measure in January following a scandal involving nude images of women and minors generated by Grok, the virtual assistant for the social media network X.
