Texas School Replaces Traditional Teachers with AI in Educational Experiment

A private institution named Alpha School has opened in Texas, where neural networks have taken the place of conventional teachers.

Students engage with academic subjects through artificial intelligence, while human staff in classrooms fulfill other roles.

According to The Free Press, the school does not employ teachers in the traditional sense. Instead, "mentors" oversee discipline, motivation, and the overall educational process but do not teach subjects such as mathematics, languages, or natural sciences.

The school day is organized unconventionally: children spend about two hours working on laptops with AI that adjusts the curriculum to each student's individual pace.

The remaining time is devoted to practical activities and life skills. Pupils learn public speaking, furniture assembly, and other applied tasks that the project creators believe will be useful beyond the classroom.

The founders of Alpha School assert that this model enables children to grasp material at twice the speed of their peers in traditional schools. However, this is a specialized educational experiment and comes with a high cost.

Billionaire Joe Lemandt, who invested in the school's development and enrolled his children there, is among the project's main supporters. Notably, he allocated one billion dollars to develop proprietary software for the school.

Tuition fees at Alpha School range from $40,000 to $75,000 annually, depending on the campus type. Consequently, the school currently serves as an experiment for affluent families rather than a widespread alternative to traditional AI-based education.
