Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona officially announced the departure of their Polish striker Robert Lewandowski at the end of the current season on Saturday. The club posted on its official X account: "Came as a star. Leaves as a legend."
In a message directed at the 37-year-old player, the club added: "Thank you, Robert Lewandowski, for every goal, every battle, and every magic moment while wearing the shirt. You will remain a Culer forever."
Lewandowski's Farewell Message
Lewandowski himself posted a farewell message on his Instagram account, stating: "The time has come for me to move on. The mission is accomplished." He continued: "Four seasons, three league titles. I will never forget the love I received from the fans. Catalonia has a place in my heart. Thank you to everyone I met during this period. Thank you to Laporta, the club president, who allowed me to live the most special periods of my professional career."
Career Statistics and Contract Situation
The Polish international striker joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich in July 2022. According to the statistical website Transfermarkt, he played 375 matches for Bayern, scoring 344 goals and providing 73 assists, winning the majority of his career titles, most notably the UEFA Champions League, with the German club.
During his time at Barcelona, Lewandowski played 191 matches, scoring 119 goals and providing 24 assists. His contract with the club was set to expire at the end of the current season, and he had not reached an agreement on an extension. Several media reports, including those from the newspaper Marca, have previously confirmed that the Spanish club's management did not hold negotiations with the player regarding a contract renewal.

According to reports, Lewandowski has been linked with a move to the Saudi league, particularly to Al-Hilal, a club seeking to strengthen its squad with new players. A potential move to the American league has also been mentioned.
