Ange Postecoglou, the Australian head coach of Saudi club Al-Nassr, has provided an update on the status of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo following his return to the team after the international break. The manager confirmed that the 41-year-old forward is in good condition, both physically and psychologically, marking a priority for the coaching staff as they prepare for upcoming competitive fixtures.

Ronaldo’s departure from Portugal camp

The clarification comes after Ronaldo left the Portugal national team training camp earlier this week due to a disagreement with head coach Jorge Jesus. The conflict arose following Jesus’s decision not to start the veteran player in the match against Norway, which took place on September 27. Despite the tension within the national squad, Postecoglou emphasized that Ronaldo’s reintegration into Al-Nassr’s routine has been smooth.

"Ronaldo returned in good shape, and he is ready mentally and physically; this is the most important thing for us," Postecoglou stated during his press briefing. He added that the Portuguese icon is now prepared to resume competition duties with Al-Nassr immediately following the conclusion of the international window.

Coach declines comment on internal dispute

When pressed on the specifics of the altercation between Ronaldo and Jesus inside the Portugal camp, Postecoglou refused to engage with the details of the crisis. He cited his own past experience managing a national side as the reason for maintaining silence on matters occurring within another federation’s domain.

"As for the national team and what happened there, I worked myself as a national team coach, and I did not like it when club coaches talked about things happening inside the national team, so I will not talk about that," the Al-Nassr trainer explained. This stance highlights the boundary between club responsibilities and internal national team affairs, particularly regarding high-profile personnel issues.
