PSG and Barcelona Set for Summer Battle Over Alvarez
Paris Saint-Germain has initiated talks with Julian Alvarez's representatives, eyeing a record transfer that could rival the Neymar and Mbappé deals.

A potential move for Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez could rank among the most expensive transfers in football history, as Paris Saint-Germain enters the race for the Argentine forward in the upcoming summer window. The French club's management has already made official contact with the player's camp to discuss financial demands and personal terms, according to Spanish newspaper AS, paving the way for a massive bid to persuade the Spanish side to sell.
PSG aims to leverage its strong relationship with Atlético Madrid's board to smooth negotiations, though the hefty price tag remains the primary obstacle. The Spanish club is expected to demand between €140 million and €150 million to part with the Argentine striker, a figure that would make this the third most expensive transfer in history, trailing only the deals for Neymar and Kylian Mbappé to PSG.
Three-Way Race for the Striker
Despite inconsistent form during parts of last season, Álvarez still managed 20 goals and 9 assists across all competitions, keeping him on the radar of Europe's elite clubs seeking attacking reinforcements. The competition is not limited to PSG, as Barcelona continues to monitor the player closely, alongside interest from Chelsea, setting the stage for a heated battle over one of the summer's biggest potential moves.
