Saudi Interior Ministry confirms legal measures against individuals involved in post-match disturbances in Jeddah following the Gulf Cup 27 final.
The Saudi Interior Ministry announced on Wednesday that authorities addressed incidents linked to a sports competition held in Jeddah the previous day. This statement followed the match between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which served as the final of Gulf Cup 27.
According to a post on the X platform by the Saudi Public Security account, Jeddah Governorate Police acted immediately upon seeing footage showing several individuals engaged in a group brawl. The incident occurred after one of the sporting events concluded.
The provincial police clarified that standard legal procedures were completed regarding the persons visible in the circulated visual content. While the security agency did not explicitly name the specific sports competition in its initial statement, the timing coincides with the day after the Saudi-UAE final.
The Saudi national team secured the "Gulf Cup 27" title by defeating the UAE. This victory marked the fourth time the Green Falcon has won the tournament in its history. The decisive match took place in the city of Jeddah.
Following the game, minor scuffles among fans were captured in videos shared across social media platforms. These clips prompted the official response from security forces detailing their intervention.
In a related development, Public Security confirmed that Jeddah Governorate Police also handled a case involving an individual identified through surveillance cameras and circulating videos. This person was seen throwing food at an event organizer after a sports competition ended.
Authorities stated that all necessary legal actions were finalized against this individual in accordance with existing regulations. The security forces emphasized their commitment to maintaining order during public gatherings and sporting events.
