A meeting in the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on Friday brought together the medical teams of FC Barcelona and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to assess the recovery of Lamine Yamal. The 17-year-old is currently training only in the gym following an injury to his biceps femoris muscle, with his rehabilitation a top priority for both club and country ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

The session was dedicated to analyzing the evolution of Yamal's condition and establishing a unified plan for the next phases of his recovery. Attending from the RFEF were Dr. Claudio Vázquez Colomo, the federation's medical officer and a specialist in orthopedic surgery and sports injuries, alongside physical trainer Carlos Cruz. Representing Barcelona were Dr. Ricard Pruna and other members of the medical and athletic staff.

Player's Direct Involvement

The meeting was not limited to medical professionals. Lamine Yamal himself was present, providing the doctors with a firsthand account of how his body feels and the progress of his condition during the treatment period.

According to sources within the club, communication with the RFEF's medical team is proceeding smoothly—a factor they consider crucial for managing the player's recovery in the best possible way. Per the newspaper Sport, Yamal is showing great commitment and discipline with his treatment program. Despite being unaccustomed to missing games due to injury and loving to play, he remains focused and motivated for the next stage.
