Egyptian Drug Authority Warns Against Unverified Infant Colic Medicine

The Egyptian Drug Authority has released a warning concerning the seizure and circulation of unverified and non-compliant packages of a well-known medication used to treat colic in children and infants. The authority cautioned against the distribution of these packages.

The alert pertains to the product DENTINOX INFANT COLIC DROPS Oral suspension. The packages in question bear the name of INTERPHARM as the importer, carry the batch number BRNOV24, and have an expiration date of November 2026.

The Drug Authority explained that the warning was issued following a statement from Interpharm Import, Export, and Medical Industries Company, which confirmed that the referenced packages do not belong to the company and were not imported through it. This classification renders the packages as unlicensed and unauthorized for circulation.

The authority directed that the distribution of the specified batches be halted, seized, and secured in markets and pharmacies. It also instructed relevant measures to be taken in handling these packages as part of its regulatory efforts to protect the public, especially children and infants, from unlicensed or non-compliant medications.

Furthermore, the Egyptian Drug Authority emphasized that the warning applies only to batch number BRNOV24 and does not imply a complete recall or general ban on the product's circulation within the Egyptian market.

The authority urged pharmacies and healthcare providers to verify the source of the packages carefully, review their details thoroughly, and contact the competent authorities if there are any doubts regarding the product's origin or compliance.

Citizens were also advised not to use any package suspected of being unlicensed or non-compliant with approved information and to reach out to the Egyptian Drug Authority for inquiries or concerns about the medication.
