Lebanese Foreign Minister Joseph Aoun congratulates the nation on abolishing the death penalty, calling it a historic step toward justice and human rights.

Wrote Foreign Minister of State and Diaspora Affairs Joseph Aoun via his account on the "X" platform:
"I extend my gratitude to all my counterparts and friends around the world who congratulated Lebanon on abolishing the death penalty.
This historic decision rectifies Lebanon's history and reaffirms the message our country has always carried: that life comes first, dignity is inviolable, and freedom, pluralism, and human rights are at the core of our identity.
It also reflects the Lebanon we are determined to rebuild: a strong state rooted in rights, governed by law, worthy of its people."
