After Directives... Dismantling 110 Tents in Beirut!

Issued by the Public Relations Department of the Beirut Municipality, the following statement:

"In implementation of the directives of the Governor of Beirut City, Judge Marwan Abboud, the Beirut City Guard Regiment completed the removal of all tents that were erected around the Hippodrome and the eastern entrance to the Horsh Beirut forest, after those who were residing in them returned to their towns and regions.

In a related context, field operations continue in the BIEL area to remove tents that have become uninhabited, where approximately 110 tents have been dismantled so far out of 179 tents that were still standing at the site.

The occupants of the remaining tents have also been notified of a four-day deadline to secure alternative shelter centers for the actual displaced persons, in preparation for completing the final removal of the remaining tents from the BIEL area and restoring the site to its normal state.

These measures come within the framework of the Beirut Municipality's plan aimed at organizing and reclaiming public property, preserving public safety and the urban landscape, in parallel with following up on the humanitarian conditions of the displaced in coordination with the relevant authorities."
