Energy Minister Joe Sadi is reportedly considering resignation after government promises to resolve Lebanon's electricity crisis were allegedly broken, with delays in funding and tariff reforms.

MTV website sources indicated that Energy and Water Minister Joe Sadi had been promised a correction of affairs, specifically regarding the establishment of a clear mechanism by the government to schedule and pay state institutions' dues owed to Electricite du Liban (EDL), amounting to $250 million. This would allow for an increase in supply hours, in addition to approving dynamic tariffs which contribute to higher collection rates and additional power supply, resulting in fewer generator subscription hours and thus saving citizens on generator costs.
However, according to well-informed sources, contrary to these promises, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam asked Finance Minister Yassine Jaber to prepare a draft law for a supplementary appropriation of fifty million dollars, at a time when EDL needs $250 million, which requires about a month to be approved in Parliament. Meanwhile, the fuel ship arrives in two weeks, meaning there will be no quick response but rather incomprehensible stalling.
From this perspective, sources told MTV that Sadi has begun seriously thinking about resigning because the government majority is throwing the crisis onto him and does not want to move toward a real and effective solution.
