The Lebanese Air Transport Union (UTA) has called on the government to immediately reverse its 3% import tax, labeling it a social crime. The union criticized the government for breaking its promise to ease the burden on citizens.

The Lebanese Air Transport Union (UTA) called on the "government to immediately reverse the 3% tax on imported goods," describing the move as a "social crime."
In a statement, it said, "After the government promised to reverse the 3% tax on imported goods, which affects nearly all consumer goods for Lebanese citizens, here it is reneging on its promise to alleviate the citizen's burden and instead intensifying economic pressure, as if it weren't enough for citizens to endure war, displacement, erasure of villages and towns, rising rents, fuel prices, generator subscriptions, and even the price of a loaf of bread."
