Lebanese President Joseph Aoun welcomed US President Donald Trump's decision to lift aviation restrictions on flights to and from Lebanon, thanking Secretary of State Marco Rubio for his efforts.

Republic President General Joseph Aoun welcomed US President Donald Trump's decision to cancel presidential orders imposing restrictions on air transport with Lebanon, considering that this decision constitutes an indicator of confidence in the measures taken by the Lebanese state to ensure the safety of civil aviation and protect air traffic to and from Beirut, as well as enhancing the security of flights linking Lebanon with countries around the world.
President Aoun thanked President Trump for his decision and the executive measures that will be taken, after he had responded during their meeting at the White House last July to his request to lift restrictions on air traffic between Lebanon and the United States. He then instructed US officials to restore air traffic between the two countries, accompanied by an immediate statement to American airlines to resume their flights to Beirut. President Aoun also thanked US Secretary of State Marco Rubio for his diligent follow-up on this file and everyone who worked to achieve it.
President Aoun affirmed that Lebanon attaches the utmost importance to the safety of civil aviation, the security of Rafic Hariri International Airport, and air navigation, continuing to take the necessary measures according to adopted international standards, which preserves passenger safety and enhances confidence in Lebanon and its institutions.
President Aoun expressed his appreciation for this step, hoping that it would contribute to strengthening air transport and facilitating communication between Lebanon and the world, and that it would form an entry point for further cooperation between Lebanon and the United States in various fields.
