The Lebanese Army arrested a dangerous fugitive responsible for killing a military officer in Baalbek and seized drugs, weapons, and armored vehicles during security operations.

The following statement was issued by the Army Command - Guidance Directorate:
An army unit raided the homes of wanted individuals in the town of Riha – Baalbek, arresting citizen (M.Z.), who is one of the most dangerous fugitives for firing at an army patrol on 3/6/2022, which led to the martyrdom of one military officer. They also arrested citizen (A.S.) and Syrians (J.M.), (A.T.), and (I.A.), who committed several crimes with the fugitive (M.Z.): drug trafficking and distribution, shooting, and launching rocket shells. Two cars were seized from their possession, one of which was armored, along with weapons, war ammunition, and a quantity of narcotic substances and Captagon pills.

Other units also carried out raids and security measures in the town of Nabha – Baalbek, the Sabra area – Beirut, and the town of Ain Al-Dhahab – Akkar, arresting 5 citizens for firing shots, and seizing two machines and raw materials for manufacturing drugs, as well as weapons, war ammunition, and military equipment.

The seized items were handed over, and investigations with the detainees began under the supervision of the competent judiciary.
