Army Commander Reveals Surprise About the Return of Mandatory Military Service in Lebanon
Lebanese Army Commander Rodolphe Haikal announced the potential return of mandatory military service, emphasizing its role in strengthening national unity.

Army Commander General Rodolphe Haikal revealed the possibility of soon returning to mandatory military service. Speaking to MTV on the sidelines of the Lebanese Army Marathon under the slogan "Together We Continue," he stated: "God willing, we will bring back mandatory service, even though some people won't like it," as it strengthens cohesion and unity among Lebanese citizens.
In the security context, Haikal affirmed that "the army's war against terrorism, drugs, weapons, and smuggling has not stopped at the borders or in all Lebanese regions." He noted that "citizens must also help us by reporting any suspicious situation, as we are more vigilant security-wise to reach a safe harbor."
