Attempts to Run Over a Security Forces Member... And an Ambush Captures Him

On 23-06-2026, while members of the New Traffic Patrol of the Regional Gendarmerie Unit were carrying out a traffic violation enforcement mission in Zalka, an unknown person driving a car of type "B. M." with tinted windows, during his stop, attempted to run over one of the members. He collided with the military motorcycle and struck several civilian vehicles. This forced one of the members to fire several shots into the air in an attempt to stop the car, whose driver fled to an unknown destination. Social media platforms circulated video clips of this incident, which sparked public resentment.

Immediately, orders were given to identify the driver and arrest him. As a result of follow-up, on the same date, members of the Information Branch managed to seize the car in Antelias and to identify the perpetrator who is named:

- A. T. (born in 2002, Palestinian)

As a result of surveillance and monitoring, it turned out that the aforementioned left his place of residence and went into hiding after the incident, fleeing to an unknown destination.

On 24-06-2026, the Special Group of the Branch managed to locate the aforementioned's hiding place in the Kfardebian area, where they ambushed him and arrested him.

During interrogation, he confessed to what was attributed to him regarding his attempt to run over a member of the security forces and his flight from the patrol, because he knew he was violating the law and the car's status was illegal.

Legal action was taken against him, and he was handed over along with the car to the relevant authority based on the指示 of the competent judiciary.
