The Lebanese Civil Defense carried out an environmental cleanup operation on Zireh Island in Sidon, involving beach and underwater cleaning efforts.

The Public Relations and Media Department of the Lebanese General Directorate of Civil Defense issued a statement reporting that the Public Safety team, Rescue Boats team, and a group of divers affiliated with the Directorate conducted an environmental activity on Zireh Island in Sidon. This initiative was organized at the invitation of the Friends of Sidon Island Association and included participation from the Environment Committee of Sidon Municipality along with several civil society organizations.
The operation involved cleaning the beach area and removing debris from the seabed by Civil Defense divers, aiming to protect the fishery resources. These efforts coincided with the implementation of public safety measures and were supported by the Lebanese Army and Internal Security Forces.

This activity underscores the Lebanese General Directorate of Civil Defense’s commitment to its humanitarian and national mission, continuing its support for citizens, serving the community, and contributing to environmental protection despite the difficult circumstances and current challenges facing the country.
