Contract Teachers: Hourly Wage Increase Like Permanent Staff to Be on Minister's Table

The Contract Teachers Movement announced that "the demand for raising the hourly wage will be present in the meeting of the head of the Secondary Education Association, Jamal Al-Omar, with Education Minister Rima Karami, scheduled for tomorrow."

In a statement, the movement clarified that "its coordinator, Hamza Mansour, communicated with Al-Omar, who confirmed that he would raise the file of contract teachers during the meeting and their right to benefit from the increase approved by Law No. 44 dated July 17, 2026, for the public sector, equivalent to it in the hourly wage, following the example given to permanent staff teachers."

It demanded that "the Secondary Education Association convey this demand clearly to the Minister of Education," calling on the ministry to "take the initiative to communicate with the Ministry of Finance, hold a joint meeting, form a committee to study the file, prepare the appropriate formula for raising the hourly wage, and refer it to the Council of Ministers."

It pointed out that "contract teachers were at the forefront of movements defending their rights and the rights of the educational sector," considering that "it is their right for the association to carry their demands and follow up on their file."
