Identifying the two men arrested on suspicion of smuggling an explosives shipment seized in Dahr el-Baidar, on the Bekaa–Beirut road, serves as a gateway to determining whether the cargo was part of a broader arms and explosives transfer operation. This comes amid reports naming two individuals in the detainees' statements as officials within "Hezbollah."

A judicial source told Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that data suggests the quantity of explosives exceeded 500 kilograms, confirming that "the explosives were packed in cardboard boxes, along with small metal balls and nails with directed propulsion power, capable of penetrating iron plates in car structures when used."

The source emphasized that "this security development revived the specter of returning to the assassinations witnessed by Lebanon between 2005 and 2012," but added that "identifying the existence of a security plot requires evidence beyond the nature of the explosives seizure alone."
