Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul-Latif Darian met Saudi Ambassador Walid Bukhari at Dar Al-Fatwa to discuss Islamic affairs and Lebanon's crisis. Bukhari stressed the need for wisdom and reason to prevail, praising the Mufti's inclusive national role in safeguarding Lebanon's unity. He affirmed Saudi Arabia's commitment to Lebanese unity, ongoing diplomatic efforts to support state institutions, and coordination with official pillars to enhance security and stability. Darian expressed deep appreciation for Saudi Arabia's role in backing Lebanon's stability and unity, emphasizing that rebuilding the state is the only path to saving the country.
Lebanon's Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul-Latif Darian received Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Lebanon Walid Bukhari at the Dar Al-Fatwa, on an occasion that included consultations on Islamic affairs and the situation in Lebanon and the region.
The Dar Al-Fatwa media office stated that Ambassador Bukhari "began his words to His Eminence by saying: 'Lebanon, land of wisdom — can wisdom ever perish?', affirming the importance of allowing wisdom and reason to prevail in confronting challenges and crises to protect civil peace, and praising the positions of Lebanon's Grand Mufti, Islamic and national, inclusive, and his rational, wise, and measured role guaranteeing Lebanon's unity and its people, and valuing the decisions taken by the Supreme Islamic Council for the benefit of Muslims and Lebanese."
Ambassador Bukhari affirmed during the meeting "his country's keenness on the unity of the Lebanese people to confront the challenges it faces, and that Saudi Arabia is pursuing its diplomatic efforts to help Lebanon in its ordeal, and is always standing by the Lebanese state and its institutions to reach solutions that contribute to enhancing security, stability, and prosperity, and that the Kingdom maintains constant coordination and cooperation with the pillars of the state."
Grand Mufti Darian expressed "his great appreciation for the role that Saudi Arabia is playing in the region and especially in Lebanon by way of support and assistance to preserve Lebanon's stability, security, and unity, especially in the exceptional circumstances Lebanon is going through," stressing that "rebuilding the state is the only way to save Lebanon, to restore its prestige in extending its authority over all its territory, concentrating weapons in the hands of the Lebanese army, adhering to the Taif Agreement, and strengthening Lebanese unity," and expressing "his satisfaction with the diplomatic steps being taken by the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister with the help of brothers and friends to stop the war on Lebanon and find a settlement that guarantees stability and enhances chances of recovery and the country's renaissance."
