Energy Ministry: Jowad al-Sadi Confirmed from Day One of His Appointment That He Would Not Interfere with Electricity and Water Distribution Schedules

The media office of the Ministry of Energy and Water stated in a press release that "one of the well-known websites continues spreading false allegations and distortions to tarnish the image of Energy Minister Jowad al-Sadi. His latest fabrication was publishing a news item dated 28/8/2026 titled: 'The Army Punishes the South,' falsely claiming it is being carried out through the Ministry of Energy, aiming to cut off electricity in the southern region under the pretext of double taxation."

It affirmed that "there is absolutely no truth to this report, especially since the Minister of Energy has consistently emphasized from the very first moment he assumed his duties that he would not interfere with electricity or water distribution schedules, while stressing the necessity of fair distribution among citizens and simultaneously underscoring the obligation of all to pay their bills." It added: "As for the decision to cut electricity to those who fail to pay their dues to the Lebanese Electricity Authority, including government ministries, public institutions, and directorates, al-Sadi does not handle its details; rather, it is decided by the Board of Directors of the Lebanese Electricity Authority and applies across all governorates, not just the south."

It noted that "al-Sadi has instructed the start of enforcement actions against violations beginning with areas associated with the Lebanese Forces, setting an example for others."

It concluded: "Unfortunately, the mentioned website persists in distorting the image under the direction of its patrons, even exploiting the suffering of southern communities in a blatant manner."
