Environment Minister Tours Ehden Nature Reserve
Lebanese Environment Minister Tamara Zein visited the Ehden Forest Nature Reserve, meeting with local officials and exploring its biodiversity.

Environment Minister Tamara Zein visited the Ehden Forest Nature Reserve, which included many stops in just a few hours.
From Ayn al-Bayad forest, where she was welcomed by the Mayor of Zgharta-Ehden and Head of the Reserve Committee, Engineer Pierre Zakhi Douaihy, along with Reserve Director Sandra Kossa Saba, with the participation of MP Tony Frangieh represented by lawyer Boutros Frangieh, former Minister Ziad Makari, acting North Governor and Qaimaqam of Zgharta Ms. Iman Al-Rafei, head of the Zgharta District Municipalities Union Engineer Bassam Hekal, Dean of Engineers in the North Shawqi Fattaf, Dean of Doctors in Tripoli and the North Dr. Ibrahim Al-Muqaddasi, and a large gathering of diplomats, reserves representatives, and civil society and environmental associations.
The day began with breakfast, followed by three speeches from the committee head, the reserve director, and the environment minister, all emphasizing the uniqueness, biological diversity, and richness of the reserve. After releasing birds into the sky with bird expert Michel Sawan, Zein and her guests toured from Ayn al-Bayad to Ayn al-Naasa forest, drank from it, and listened to its management plan. Following a break and commemorative photos under the only plane tree in the reserve, they continued their excursion towards Joueit spring, where they visited the reserve nursery, planted a cedar sapling in her name, and learned about its seedlings, then the scientific insect exhibition by Dr. Nabil Nemr, before lunch in honor of the minister and reserve guests, followed by the presentation of commemorative gifts on the occasion.
