Fady Makki Prioritizes Return of Residents to Their Homes in Nabatieh
Minister Fady Makki emphasizes restoring residents to their homes and rebuilding Nabatieh after war damages.

Fady Makki, the Minister of Administrative Development, initiated a visit to the city of Nabatieh by arriving at the municipal building, where he was welcomed by Mayor Abbas Fakhruddin, members of the municipal council, representatives of the area's deputies, and several community figures.
The meeting began with a moment of silence in honor of the martyrs, followed by a session dedicated to discussing the city's conditions after the war, the extent of damage to infrastructure and homes, as well as urgent needs and requirements for the reconstruction phase.
Subsequently, Minister Makki visited the residence of the Imam of Nabatieh, Sheikh Abdul Hussein Sadiq. The discussion focused on the city's situation and needs post-war, along with ways to cooperate among various parties to support recovery and reconstruction efforts. Afterwards, accompanied by Mayor Abbas Fakhruddin, municipal council members, and his delegation, Makki toured the commercial market in Nabatieh to assess the scale of destruction and losses caused by the war.
In a statement, Makki expressed his emotional response to the scenes he witnessed in the market, affirming that "the extent of destruction in the affected areas is beyond description, and the images of destroyed homes, displaced persons, and citizens' suffering reflect the magnitude of the tragedy experienced by the Lebanese." He stressed that "the current priority is to preserve Lebanese unity, mobilize international support to secure a ceasefire, complete the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territories, facilitate the return of prisoners, and ensure guarantees to prevent repeated attacks."
He added that "the highest priority is to return residents to their villages and homes as quickly as possible, restore normal life, and reestablish state institutions in the damaged areas." Makki confirmed that "the existing resources are insufficient compared to the scale of destruction, necessitating enhanced cooperation with the international community, private sector, civil society organizations, and expatriates to support reconstruction projects."
Concluding his remarks, Makki highlighted his personal connection to Nabatieh, noting that he grew up in the town of Haboush and frequently passed through Nabatieh, which gave him a close familiarity with the city and its people. He stated, "Lebanese people remain on their land and will work to rebuild what the war has destroyed," and asserted that "the state will extend its authority over all Lebanese territories and protect all citizens." He called for "rallying around state institutions, respecting the sacrifices of the martyrs, and fostering solidarity and national unity, as division only serves the enemy and undermines efforts for recovery and reconstruction."
