Fahmy Affirms Arab League Support for Lebanon and Announces Intent to Visit the South
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun met with Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy, who reaffirmed support for Lebanon's sovereignty and announced plans to visit the south amidst Israeli violations.

President of the Republic Joseph Aoun affirmed during his meeting with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Nabil Fahmy, that "Israel has not adhered to the framework formula, and the south remains subject to daily violations, noting that this will not lead to any result but will only increase the Lebanese attachment to their land and rights. However, it does not help the Lebanese state in achieving the goals it has set."
He added: "Lebanon is committed to a diplomatic solution, despite its difficulty, because it is far less costly than the destructive war that the Lebanese, especially the people of the south, are paying for. It is time for Lebanon to find peace."
He noted that "Lebanon welcomes any effort or initiative by the Arab League to help Lebanon overcome this difficult phase it is going through, especially since the League has always stood by Lebanon at various stages."
For his part, Fahmy said after the meeting: "Lebanon is a priority for the Arab League and a personal priority for me as Secretary-General. We affirm our support for the Lebanese state and all its institutions, standing by it politically, economically, and socially. I will visit the south in light of repeated Israeli attacks on citizens and Lebanese interests, and I will work to direct the Arab League's efforts towards everything that serves Lebanon and its state."
He continued: "Political and diplomatic activity regarding Lebanon will be intensified, and there is full Arab support for its negotiations with Israel."
