The Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Iran's attack on an Emirati oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, calling it a blatant violation of international law and reaffirming full support for the UAE's actions to protect its maritime safety.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned in "the strongest terms" the attack carried out by Iran against an Emirati oil tanker while it was passing through the Strait of Hormuz, stating that it "constitutes a gross violation of the rules of international law, particularly the provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982, and Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), which affirms freedom of maritime navigation and rejects Iranian threats to disrupt or close the Strait of Hormuz."
In a statement, it reiterated its "rejection of Iran's attempts to use the Strait of Hormuz as a tool for bargaining and extortion," calling for its "full and unconditional reopening," while emphasizing its "full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and support for the measures taken to safeguard its maritime safety and assets."
