French Army Reports Death of 21-Year-Old Soldier in Southern Lebanon
The French Army confirmed the death of a 21-year-old soldier in southern Lebanon due to an accidental gunshot during training exercises.

General Fabien Mandon, Chief of Staff of the French Army, announced the death of a French soldier in Lebanon, who was fatally wounded by an accidental gunshot during training, according to the Agence France-Presse.
In a post on the social media platform X, he identified the soldier as Florian Gilet, aged 21, who was serving in southern Lebanon as part of an operational partnership mission to support the Lebanese Armed Forces.
Defense Minister Catherine Vautrin stated that the soldier was a member of the 8th Marine Infantry Parachute Regiment.
A statement from the Ministry of Defense indicated that the soldier had arrived in Lebanon on June 1 and, despite rapid medical attention, succumbed to his injury.
