The General Amnesty Law remains a point of contention between parliamentary blocs, as they seek a formula acceptable to all.

According to MTV information, an agreement has been reached between the blocs stipulating the reduction of life imprisonment to 17 years, and in the case of merging sentences, the harshest penalty is counted along with a quarter of the other penalties. It was also agreed to pass the file of the exiled and to reduce the penalty for drug dealers.

Also, according to the agreement, those detained without trial for 14 years, not just 12 years, will be released from prison.

For his part, MP Pierre Bou Assi, in an interview with MTV, called for the necessity of being "cautious and strict on the issue of drug dealers because it is sensitive and could mislead the compass of society, but we will discuss it calmly."
