Hani: I Hope Hezbollah Does Not Repeat Its Own Mistake

Confirmed Agriculture Minister Nizar Hani that "Liberia's objectives from negotiations are very clear, but unfortunately they have not been translated onto the ground to date," explaining that "the main goal of negotiations is to stop all hostile actions, halt destruction, and compel Israeli forces to withdraw beyond Lebanese borders."

He noted that "outcomes on the ground fall short of the hopes of the President of the Republic and the Lebanese government," expressing hope that "the negotiating delegation will achieve tangible results on the ground in upcoming rounds through fulfilling promises."

He denied any "decline in American interest in Lebanese affairs—on the contrary," adding: "We are facing a golden opportunity for Lebanon, which enjoys significant American attention, and President Aoun’s statements regarding disarming Hezbollah are realistic."

He announced that "communication with Hezbollah continues without interruption, especially through President Nabih Berri, and contacts with it remain open," highlighting that "all of Lebanon agrees on the desire to halt all violations and Israeli hostile actions."

Responding to a question about the possibility of Hezbollah entering the war should the U.S.-Iran conflict resume, he expressed hope that "the group does not repeat its own mistake," stressing that "any such move would lead to more killing, destruction, and exhaustion of Lebanon."
