Health Ministry Leadership Transition Affirms Uninterrupted Services for All

The Ministry of Public Health held a handover ceremony marking the transition between the former acting Director General, Fadi Sinan, and the newly appointed Director General, Dr. Wiam Abu Hamdan. The event took place in the presence of Minister Dr. Rakan Nassereddine, heads of departments and divisions within the ministry, and a large gathering of staff members.

Minister Nassereddine expressed his gratitude to Sinan for all the efforts exerted during the recent challenging period. He welcomed Dr. Abu Hamdan to the ministry’s team and wished him success in his new role.

He highlighted that from the very first day of assuming his ministerial duties, he emphasized that his role is to contribute constructively rather than erase previous work. He described ministerial work as a continuous process, where successful administration builds upon prior achievements.

Addressing the ministry’s team, the minister praised their dedication, affirming that they are capable of meeting challenges. He acknowledged their diligent efforts behind the scenes in areas such as processing payments, improving operations and services in hospitals and health centers, overseeing medication affairs, and handling other essential matters affecting citizens’ daily lives.

The minister noted that the Ministry of Public Health is inherently a sensitive institution due to the heavy responsibilities it carries. He stressed that every employee must maintain strict commitment and close monitoring. Whenever a crisis or issue arises, the ministry quickly becomes the focal point, as seen in recent crises involving displacement, war, prior medication shortages, and the pandemic.

He affirmed that the ministry remains steadfast in confronting all challenges to ensure the provision of quality health services to every citizen with complete fairness, without exception or discrimination.
