Internal Security Forces Warn of Fake Investment and Trading Sites Run by International Fraud Network

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces announced that "within the framework of daily monitoring conducted by specialized units to combat online fraud crimes, the Information Branch discovered several fake investment and trading sites bearing names and logos very similar to those of real investment companies (the fake site address may differ from the real one by only one character). Despite the variety of these fake site names, they are all managed by a single international fraud network targeting citizens and causing financial losses amounting to millions of dollars."

The Directorate warned citizens against using these fake sites, requesting them to cease dealing with them and immediately close their accounts after the Information Branch investigations proved them fraudulent. It emphasized distinguishing between these sites and original platforms, verifying the company name and its official website before dealing with any investment or trading firm, and checking the electronic address literally, not just based on appearance or logo.

It also advised downloading the application of the intended company only from App Store or Google Play, not from any link sent via WhatsApp or social media sites; verifying the entity to which funds will be transferred before executing any transaction; and refraining from selling, renting, or even lending financial accounts to avoid their use in scams, which exposes owners to legal prosecution. Note that investigations are underway with a number of intermediaries (sale and rental of electronic financial accounts) based on instructions from the competent judiciary.
