Israel and Lebanon are exploring a US-supported pilot project to transfer control of certain southern Lebanese lands from Israel to the Lebanese army.

Israeli officials have confirmed to Reuters that Israel and Lebanon are considering a pilot project, supported by the United States, under which the Israeli army would hand over control of some lands in southern Lebanon to the Lebanese army.
The officials emphasized that the Lebanese army involved in the project would undergo training and vetting by the American side to ensure it has no ties to Hezbollah, while Israel would maintain a military presence in the buffer zone.
