Israel: Hezbollah Continues Armed Activity; We Hold Lebanese Army Responsible!
The Israeli military spokesperson accuses the Lebanese Army of failing to disarm Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, citing continued armed activity and infrastructure despite international agreements.
Israeli military spokesperson Ella Wawiya wrote on "X":
Under the understandings reached in 2024, which Israel and Lebanon relied upon until the launch of Operation "Roaring Lion," the Lebanese Army assumed responsibility for removing Hezbollah's combat means and military infrastructure from southern Lebanon. However, it failed to execute this task as required, allowing the organization to continue consolidating its military presence, enhancing its armament, and establishing military infrastructure in the area.
Even during Operation "Shield of the Nation" conducted by the Lebanese Army in 2025, a significant gap persisted between statements and field reality, as the operation did not achieve the dismantling of the organization's military capabilities nor prevent the continuation of its activities and the growth of its military power.
In December 2025, the Lebanese Army was requested, through the American mechanism, to deal with a military facility in the Kfarra area of southern Lebanon, which Hezbollah had been using to store combat means. Subsequently, the Lebanese Army announced that it had taken the necessary measures regarding this facility.
However, several months after this announcement, it became apparent that Hezbollah continued its activity within the facility, and its members moved combat means and military equipment out of it to retain them and preserve the organization's military capabilities. Thus, the facility remained available for Hezbollah's use for its military purposes, despite several months passing since the Lebanese Army's announcement of taking the necessary measures regarding it.
The attached footage reveals Hezbollah elements loading combat means stored inside the facility onto a truck, in an attempt to move them from the site and retain them within the organization's military arsenal. Following the detection of this activity, Israeli military forces raided the truck and destroyed it, including the combat means removed from the facility and loaded onto it.
The scene (in the attached video) shows that despite the Lebanese Army's announcement of addressing the facility, Hezbollah elements' activity continued there, as they attempted to move combat means and military equipment out of it to retain them.
The Military Intelligence Division of the IDF detects cases where entities within the Lebanese Army coordinated with Hezbollah regarding the enforcement of security arrangements, in a manner that contributed to attempts to prevent, delay, or thwart these activities, and allowed Hezbollah to prepare in advance to evacuate combat means and move them from the area.
The Lebanese Army bears the responsibility of ensuring the full and precise implementation of all tasks assigned to it. The Israeli Army confirms that it expects the Lebanese Army to take more decisive and effective measures to fulfill its responsibilities and prevent the presence of combat means and military infrastructure belonging to the terrorist Hezbollah organization in southern Lebanon.
The Israeli Army continues to monitor Hezbollah's attempts to rebuild its military capabilities and enhance its armament, and will not allow any breach that poses a threat to the security of the State of Israel and its citizens.
Hezbollah dragged Lebanon and its residents into war in service of Iran during Operation "Roaring Lion," launching thousands of rockets, including from areas south of the Litani River, where the presence of any armed elements, military facilities, or combat means not belonging to the Lebanese government or the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) is prohibited.
