Israel has pulled back from a section of the buffer zone in southern Lebanon, seen as a goodwill gesture toward the Lebanese government.

A U.S. State Department official told Reuters that Israel has withdrawn from a portion of the buffer zone it had established in southern Lebanon, describing the Israeli pullback as a goodwill gesture toward the Lebanese government.
The official added that it is now up to the Lebanese army to move into the area vacated by Israel.
