Italy Sends 20-Ton Aid Shipment to Lebanon Under “Stronger Together” Initiative

Italy dispatched a new humanitarian shipment to Beirut yesterday, carrying approximately 20 tons of relief supplies. The consignment arrived in the Lebanese capital under an ongoing Italian solidarity campaign with Lebanon. Bernard Slouwan Khouri, director of the organization Cosmo, accompanied the cargo. He was received at the port by Fabrizio Marcelli, Italy’s ambassador to Lebanon; General Deodato Abanara, representing UNIFIL; Colonel Attilio Cortoni; representatives of Caritas Lebanon; the Latin Patriarchate of Antioch; and the non-governmental organizations “Nabdh Al-Ghad” and “Al-Dira’a Association.”

First Consignment Under “Stronger Together” Initiative

The shipment comprises 45 pallets totaling around 20 metric tons of goods. It was assembled over two and a half months from locations across Italy. The effort forms part of the “Stronger Together, More United Than the Roots of the Cedar” initiative, launched jointly by Modavi Civil Protection and the Brothers of Italy political party. This delivery marks the first batch of aid under the initiative.

In remarks to the National News Agency, Khouri stated: “This is the first batch of large-scale assistance, and we continue—alongside friendly Italian institutions, especially UNIFIL—to extend support to the Lebanese people, who have suffered and continue to suffer. Italy proves once again its steadfast support for Lebanon.”
