UN Under-Secretary-General Jean-Pierre Lacroix visited UNIFIL headquarters in southern Lebanon, meeting with the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL staff ahead of the mission's upcoming mandate renewal.

UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix, accompanied by UNIFIL Commander Major General Diodato Abagnara, visited the Litani South Sector at the Benwa Barakat Barracks in Tyre, where he met with Sector Commander Brigadier General Nicolas Tabat.
During the meeting, cooperation and coordination between UNIFIL and the Lebanese Army were discussed, and Lacroix signed the army's guest book.
He then moved to UNIFIL headquarters, where a symbolic military ceremony was held in his presence, attended by Abagnara, who subsequently held meetings with him and other officers. Lacroix also met with UNIFIL staff members.
The visit aims to meet with UNIFIL leadership and personnel before the end of their current three-month deployment period in southern Lebanon.
