Lebanese Agriculture Minister Nizar Hani announced that formal instructions have been issued to the governors of Beirut and Mount Lebanon, requiring them to notify municipalities of an immediate prohibition on pigeon breeding in areas surrounding Beirut Airport.

Hani stated that a comprehensive report is currently being prepared on types of farms operating across the country, including poultry and cattle farms. He noted that a large portion of these farms complies with required environmental standards, while a small number operate without official licensing.

In an interview on the LBCI program “Naharkom Sa3id,” Hani confirmed the existence of ongoing oversight mechanisms. He expressed hope that the full report would be finalized by the end of the week. Hani emphasized that all violations will be met with accountability and affirmed that final decisions will be made once the complete picture is available.
