Lebanese Army Chief: Forces Continue Implementing Framework Agreement Tasks

Lebanese Army Commander General Rudolf Khawam received Edward Gabriel, former U.S. ambassador and current head of the American Task Force on Lebanon (ATFL), at his office in Yarze. Gabriel was accompanied by members of ATFL’s board of directors. The meeting included a review of the latest developments in Lebanon and the broader region.

A detailed and candid exchange took place during the session, focusing on the army’s operational mandates and the complexities it faces at this stage. Ambassador Gabriel commended the sacrifices made by Lebanese military personnel and underscored the army’s critical role in maintaining national security and stability.

General Khawam confirmed that the Lebanese Armed Forces remain committed to carrying out all duties linked to the Framework Agreement, operating within the resources currently available. He noted that Israeli occupation forces continue their attacks and breaches of existing understandings under the agreement.
